I need advice on the relocation of my life. Where do I start if I have no idea where to go? Search for a job or at home
Today I've decided I want to leave New York. I'm pretty sure I want to go south, but I have no idea where or what I'd do when I get there. I want to begin with, so how do I start? How can I move and then find a job, I can find a job and move there if I get one? I know this sounds a bit strange but I have lived in New York my whole life and worked at my job for over 10 years. Any other job I've had has been a part time job while I was working my work as usual. I have NEVER done anything differently. So the idea of leaving everything seems so strange, but I need a change or I lose my mind. I am single, no children, only two guinea pigs … nothing holding me back, where do I go?
Forbes magazine has carried an article last year about the best places for business and careers that lists a lot of places – large and small, and provides an analysis of job growth, crime rates, etc. It should be quite useful for you as a starting point – http://www.forbes.com/2006/05/03/06bestplaces_best-places-for-business_land.html The first time you visit a page of Forbes get an ad. Wait out, and the page where the link appears. It's definitely worth the wait! Try to get a handle on why you want to move. Is it because the things go wrong in New York or who are tired of winter or to other work or? Two years ago one of my cousins decided to leave NY. North Carolina and found Texas, and moved to North Carolina. She is not happy – it feels like an "outsider" (who she is and will for a while) and struggled to find a job she liked. It's stuck now, at least for a year or two. So, before you move somewhere and perhaps regret, try to travel to some places "South" and see how you like. They go on vacation to some interesting places in the Forbes story to see what they think of them. You know the winters will be milder, but the summers are warmer, so visit these places during the summer to see them at their worst. You can use the Internet to the extent of labor market and it is best to move with a job offer in hand instead of moving and then find a job. They will not suck like my cousin in a job that does not like because it's the only thing that could find. Good luck.
