Parents and students should discuss the benefits of joining campus social organizations, sororities and fraternities. There is a tremendous setback to be a member of the fraternities, sororities, and other social organizations. Statistically members of fraternities and sororities have a higher average for all the way to graduation. They stay in college.
Moms and dads often equate college social organizations with excessive alcohol consumption and feast at night. I suppose the classic 1978 film, Animal House, may have something to do with that mentality. But the truth is that there are benefits of your child's school join social organizations during their college years.
The basic structure of the fraternities and sororities is open to the emergence of leadership. Each organization has a governing board of representatives elected among their peers. Leadership and accountability are natural consequences of taking these positions.

Parents should insist that social organizations like fraternities and sororities, are microcosms of real life. Emerging adults are prepared for their future.
My favorite statistic? Fraternities and sororities are the largest # 1 network of volunteers in the U.S.: 10 million hours of volunteer service per year (nationally). So the students are doing more than the party …
Fraternities and sororities offer a support system to your student during their school experience and this support system is maintained with his son and after graduation. He stays with them for life.
