What is the best way to enter the IT industry with no experience?
I recently acquired a degree in Computer Science and have an overall average good. I have a strong work ethic and I'm anxious to get started in the field. I have posted resumes on Monster, etc.. I have graduated for 3 months. Is it normal take the time to get a good entry-level position in IT? I've been driving a taxi and working in a nursing home to keep afloat financially because I spent the past five school years living on financial aid, loans, JOBS, and CC. I have had several interviews that seemed to go well, but they always take their sweet time to get back to me, sometimes more than a month. I have heard and used the search using several suggestions, including the adaptation of my resume to the description of work and sending letters of thanks. I know December was a bad time to graduate, but it is spring and I'm still carting drunks home in a taxi children disadvantaged and care (not the fields that had planned). What else can I do?
If possible, you can check with your school and ask if they handle any internship – if you can not ask any of the companies in which we interviewed, etc. Some are paid and others not, or could result in a grade which could be applied to postgraduate work. Hopefully yours will be a fee. That's how you get your foot in the door and is an excellent resume builder. If this is not feasible, may have to work some low level IT job somewhere – even store retailing – at least to show they are involved in this field. When I finished school, I had an internship in my field and took the first job is there and worked for several years. Good luck!
